The latest on retinol - 2024 European ban on high concentrations of Vitamin A in face serums

In 2016 the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) in Europe issued an opinion on Vitamin A concentrations with the recommendation that the maximum concentration of Vitamin A does not exceed 0.3% in face serums and 0.05% in body lotions to limit the overall exposure to Vitamin A.  This will come into effect in Europe in June 2024 with a 36 month grace period. The rationale behind the imposed limitations is that 5% of the population already exceeds the maximum Vitamin A intake. It is important to understand that retinol is safe when used in the correct concentrations.

Bottao Evening Serum does not exceed this maximum Vitamin A concentration. Our Evening Serum contains encapsulated retinol 0.03% that is slowly absorbed to reduce irritation. We have consciously infused Bottao Evening Serum with Vitamin C and E to  increase the activity of Vitamin A. Vitamin A is the holy grail of anti-aging skin care, reducing the appearance of fine lines and pigmentation, increasing collagen,  evening skin tone and improving acne.  We all need and love this active ingredient. There has been no indication that Australia will move to limit the Vitamin A concentration in products that are not prescribed.  However, you can enjoy your effortless evening routine with Bottao Evening Serum.
